INDIAN BOXING AND SPORTS ACADEMY

Raj Kumar Sangwan in the year 2002, established India’s first private residential boxing academy.

After retiring Raj Kumar Sangwan did not let go of his passion and follow the footsteps of his mentor Capt. Hawa Singh to nurture and train boxers. He made his duty to promote and train boxers with his valuable skills and experience. Indian Boxing and Sports Academy was started to provide best possible training to individuals under experienced and quality coaches with the sole purpose of bringing glory to the country.

The Academy has shown great results and produced many National Champions and International Medalists. Boxers from the academy has represented boxers like Sumit Sangwan (Olympian, Asian Medalist), Parveen More (Commonwealth medalist), Balbeer Singh (Youth world champion), Jaiveer Ahlawat (World championship) etc. are some of the success stories who have brought great name not only to the Academy but also to the nation. The academy has helped individuals from all over the country and has been instrumental in supporting people from humble backgrounds.

Raj Kumar Sangwan has been running a Petrol station in Gurgaon since 2004. It is located at village Gadholi, Pataudi Road Gurgaon, Haryana.

SELECTION COMMITTEE

Raj Kumar Sangwan is part of the Chief selection committee for the National Boxing Team. The main role of the committee is to select the best boxers to represent our country in International tournaments like Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games etc.

NEWS AND COMMENTARY

Raj Kumar Sangwan makes regular appearances on TV News (Times Now, India TV, Headlines Today etc.) as an expert, providing valuable feedback and comments on current events and issues related to sports. During major international tournaments, he gets signed with various news channels to give his views on the performance of Indian Athletes.

He was the expert analyst for the Rio Olympics with Start Sports who were official broadcaster for the Olympics. He provided post-event feedback and analysis of Indian Boxing team.

He was also the official commentator for the Olympic Pre-Qualifying event with the Olympic Channel in Madrid.

SOCIAL WORK

Raj Kumar Sangwan with his extensive experience and knowledge has always been a helpful contributor in Social sphere. He is an active member of the society and works tirelessly in shaping a better future for the people.

He has worked with government bodies and various organizations in reforming their policies and promoting the culture of Sports in India.

Raj Kumar Sangwan for his expertise and deep understanding of the sport of Boxing was appointed the Govt. Observer by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, India for the year 2006.

He was a key advisor in the drafting of Meghalaya State Sports Policy with IIM Shillong. With his profound knowledge in the field, he provided deep insights on the innerworkings of sport settings and suggested many ideas for promoting the culture of Sports in the state. He played an instrumental role in shaping the Sports Policy of Meghalaya which in little time has shown great success.

He is a founder member of Kissan Chamber of commerce. The organization plays a major role in reforming the agricultural sector of India and addressing the needs and welfare of the farming community.

Raj Kumar Sangwan in a contractual relationship with Infinity Optimal Solutions, a sports promotion brand, hosted the first ever televised Boxing Fight Night at Ansal Plaza, New Delhi in 2006. It was for the first time where Indian audiences got acquainted with a boxing event resembling the style of Professional Boxing. The event was hosted by the charming and graceful Charu Sharma and televised by NDTV. International Boxers from different countries (Turkmenistan, Serbia) fought exhibition fights with the top boxers of India at that time. Many notable Indian Boxers including Vijender Singh, Akhil Kumar etc. faced their international opponents in a professional boxing fashion.

He is also the General Secretary of Indian Professional Boxing Association (IPBA) of India. Being the first professional heavyweight, he has helped in promoting the culture of Professional Boxing in India.
