Raj Kumar Sangwan was born on 20th August 1969 in village Fatehgarh Bhiwani, Haryana. His father Late Shri Brahma Nand Sangwan wasthe Chief Accounts Officer in Chandigarh and his mother Smt. Om Kaur is a homemaker. He has 4 siblings, one elder brother, two elder sisters and a younger sister. His elder brother Captain (retd.) Ajit Sangwan is a retired honorary captain from the Indian Army. His family supported him at every step of his career even though Boxing as a sport was not widely popular then.

Raj Kumar Sangwan got married on 30th November 1996 to Dr Geeta Sangwan. Dr Geeta Sangwan is a PhD in Hindi and has been working in the Directorate of Education, Delhi since the last twenty years. She is a supportive wife and a hardworking individual.

Raj Kumar Sangwan and Dr Geeta have two children. Their firstborn Karan Raj Singh was born in 1997 and their daughter Supriya Singh was born in the year 2000. Both of the kids are bright students and currently undergoing their studies in highly respected Universities.

Raj Kumar Sangwan is a devout family man and attributes all his successes and achievements to his family. He lives with his wife and kids who are the pillars of his strength. He regularly visits his ancestral home in the village and extends a helping hand to all the members of his community. He is also the life member of ‘Jat Sabha’ and is often seen taking part in events hosted by them with full support and enthusiasm.
